Summer Road Trip Series: Longwood Gardens

by Claire Chivington

Summer is officially here, and with vacation season in full swing, we thought it would be the perfect time to share some of our team's favorite destinations for a quick road trip. Whether you're looking for a day trip close to home or a relaxing weekend outing, one spot that should be on your list is Longwood Gardens.

Recently, our team member Kim spent the day exploring this beautiful destination and came back with plenty of recommendations. If it's your first visit, she suggests making time for some of Longwood Gardens' most popular attractions, including the historic Peirce-du Pont House (the castle), the stunning Rose Garden, the impressive Treehouse, and of course, the spectacular fountain and water shows that make Longwood famous.

After a day of exploring the gardens, be sure to treat yourself to dinner at 1906, their on-site restaurant. One menu item that stood out during Kim's visit was the sunflower risotto, which she says is definitely worth trying.

Longwood Gardens offers something for everyone, from beautiful landscapes and seasonal displays to unique dining experiences and family-friendly attractions. It's an easy drive from Lancaster County and makes for a memorable summer getaway without having to travel far from home.

Have you visited Longwood Gardens before? We'd love to hear about your favorite spots and recommendations!
